Sweet Corn, NK 199 Yellow Hybrid, Treated
(su) (84 Day) This main-crop variety has a loyal following. It's well-suited for fresh use, canning or freezing. The 7½-8" ears are filled with 18-20 rows of sweet, tender, golden kernels. Sturdy 7½-8' stalks. Treated seed.
Normal (su) sweet corn varieties offer old-fashioned, mildly sweet flavor. The sugars in the kernels convert to starch more rapidly than other types, so they must be used quickly once mature. Isolate from sh2 and sh2-A sweet corn varieties as well as field corn, ornamental corn and popcorn varieties. For home gardens, stagger plantings at least 14 days apart. For acre-sized and larger plantings, space 250' apart.
When planting a combination of su, se and se/sh2 sweet corn varieties, for best results, select varieties with varying maturity dates to avoid cross-pollination.
