Sweet Corn, Illini Xtra Sweet Yellow Hybrid, Treated
(sh2) (85 Day) Holds its supersweet qualities for 48 hours or more after picking. This ensures plenty of time to process the crisp, delectable kernels for freezing. Sturdy plants often produce 2 or more 8" ears filled with 14-18 rows. Excellent choice for roadside stands. Moderate resistance to northern corn leaf blight. Treated seed.
Supersweet (sh2) varieties have a very high sugar content and excellent holding qualities, up to 10 days longer than normal hybrids. Isolate from su, se, se/sh2 and QuadSweets™ sweet corn varieties as well as field corn, ornamental corn and popcorn varieties. For home gardens, stagger plantings at least 14 days apart. For acre-sized and larger plantings, space 250' apart.
When planting a combination of su, se and se/sh2 sweet corn varieties, for best results, select varieties with varying maturity dates to avoid cross-pollination.
