(70 Days) Has delicious strawberry like flavor. Husk cherries, also known as ground cherries or Cape Gooseberries, are members of the tomato family. They bear golden-yellow 1/2 to 3/4 inch fruits encased in a papery husk. The husk turns tan and fruits drop off the plant when ripe. They are excellent for pies, preserves, jams, fruit salads and fresh eating, or can be dried like raisins. Productive plants 18" tall and 24" wide begin fruiting in July and continue until frost.
