Great mums!
Mar 8, 2024 | By Judie Brower
I've been growing these mums in our Zone 5 gardens since they first went on the market and have been consistently pleased with their performance. Don't compare them with standard fall mums (often considered throw-away plants in our climate). These mums spread beautifully and can be divided in the spring. Their roots are more like runners than deep roots, making them easy to divide. Left alone, ours have easily spread up to 5 ft wide. I have found that if I cut them back (with hedge clippers) early in the season, they get even bushier and bloom a little later, in late summer/early fall.
