(P.P. 16621) A big-fruited dessert plum with superior winter hardiness. Prof. Brian Smith of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls spent years developing this cross between cherry plums and conventional Japanese dessert plums. The end result are these 2 inch round, blue-black plums with very sweet, juicy, yellow flesh. The fruit ripens early August, about 2 to 4 weeks earlier than other plums grown in the midwest. A great choice for Northern gardeners who want to grow fruit. Pollination partner: Waneta
