Hosta

Hosta: USDA Zones 3-8. These hardy perennials are ideal for ground covers, low borders, perennial bed edges and around the base of trees. Hostas prefer organically rich, well-drained soils. Partial shade is better than full sun for most varieties, except in cooler, more moist locations where they can tolerate or become acclimated to more sun. The foliage is frost sensitive and will freeze to the ground in winter but re-grows early in spring to grow all season. Snails and slugs are a Hosta's worst enemy. Avoid them with pesticides you'll find under our Supplies tab and Insect Control heading.
